Copal
|
|
A resin that originally comes from middle and
south America but nowadays also can come from Africa of southeast Asia. It is
family of the Burserae species and is sometimes also called "the
Frankincense of the west". As an incense it is often used in the
shamanistic rituals of the original middle american relegions. During combustion the scent is fresh with an
undertone of turpentine. There is a yellow and a white sort, of which the
white one is a little more intense(and expensive) There is a link with Amber,
because of Copal there is also much fossilised resin found. For this reason
you see Copal so now and then put into jewelry. |
